LONE STAR COMBO WELDER ACADEMY & SERVICES

My name is Rosendo Puente, and my journey in the welding industry began at a pivotal moment in my life. After experiencing a layoff in industrial construction, I faced the harsh reality that the skills I had weren’t enough to secure long-term employment. In this industry, when projects come to an end, those with fewer specialized skills are often the first to be let go. It was clear to me that I needed to make a change if I wanted to secure a sustainable career.
Determined to take control of my future, I made the decision to invest in myself. I rearranged my expenses to afford the training I needed to become a highly sought-after professional. With guidance and perseverance, I began my journey to becoming a Combo Welder. Each night, I dedicated hours to perfecting my craft, cutting, beveling, and prepping pipe to create welding coupons. I became obsessed with the process—so much so that I would dream of running root passes.
Welding is a craft that demands patience, practice, and resilience. It’s not something you can learn overnight. It requires hard work, persistence, and the willingness to push through frustration and fatigue. But through this commitment, I honed my skills to a level that allowed me to exceed industry standards, and the results spoke for themselves. I started receiving job offers and found myself working with some of the best professionals in the industry, including companies like Brown & Root, S&B, and Worley, among others.
Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to build lasting relationships that have kept me consistently employed. Along the way, I’ve encountered countless eager helpers on job sites, many of whom have asked if I could teach them the craft. Their curiosity and drive inspired me to open Lone Star Combo Welder Academy—a place where aspiring welders can learn the skills and mindset required to succeed in this demanding industry.
